Cinder block fences (also known as CMU or concrete block walls) are a staple of Arizona landscapes, especially in Phoenix, Tucson, and other desert areas. They’re tough, affordable, and perfectly suited to the harsh sun, wind, dust, and extreme temperature swings here. Most homes use them for privacy walls around backyards, side yards, or property lines—far more durable than wood fences, which do not last in the desert.
